KISS Coffeehouse Owner Reflects On Last Week's Grand Opening
July 4, 2006Brian Galvin, owner of the Kiss Coffeehouse — which opened on June 27 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina — has sent the following message to KISS' official web site, KissOnline.com:
"I want to thank everyone who came out for the grand opening of the world's first Kiss Coffeehouse in Myrtle Beach! It was a thrill to meet so many dedicated fans from all over the world. Believe me, I was nervous when I received a call at 5:00 p.m. from the landlord suggesting we cut off the line to meet with Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons. By then, the line had snaked around the store and back to the parking lot, with hundreds of fans waiting. I told them there was no way we could stop people from lining up. It's not everyday that Paul and Gene are available together to meet with fans and the line continued to grow into the thousands!
"Behind the scenes, we were all concerned that many fans would not make it in to meet with the guys and a no autograph rule was set in place in order to move the line faster. KISS fans should know that Paul and Gene stepped in and changed that once the first fans, the Miller family from Colorodo, walked through the doors. Fans wanted autographs and would get autographs, said Paul and Gene. They continued signing, meeting and greeting (over 40 sharpie pens later!) until the last fan in line was seen. Paul missed his flight and Gene stayed over an hour and a half later than his commitment. Trust me, these guys care about their fans! It was evident in everything they did that night. Seeing firsthand the true joy they got from meeting everyone made me proud to be a KISS fan. These guys are the BEST!
"I hope everyone had a great time. It truly was an awesome day in KISStory!"
